LIBDEMS LAUNCH FARMERS' FORUM

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 4th Aug 2008

Jim Hume MSP, East Lothian's Liberal Democrat regional representative and South of Scotland MSP in the Scottish Parliament and Amy Rodger, East Lothian's Liberal Democrat prospective Westminster candidate, last week hosted a Farmers' Forum in Dunbar.

The discussion ranged across issues affecting farmers at local and national level. All attendees found it a constructive evening, and Amy and Jim have undertaken to repeat the exercise at a future date.

Amy Rodger commented:

"Farming is a hugely important part of East Lothian's economy. I'm committed to continued engagement with East Lothian's farmers to support them and the vital role they have in East Lothian's communities."

Jim Hume MSP added:

"As a farmer, past NFUS Director and now an MSP representing a largely rural area, I know how important it is for politicians to listen to and take on board the views and experiences of those of us in the industry."
