Michael Moore's Week Ahead - Monday 1 March to Friday 5 March 2010

12.00.00am GMT Mon 1st Mar 2010

Here are some highlights of what I am doing this week:

'On Monday morning I will meet with local representatives of Scottish Enterprise for an update on the work they are doing in the south of Scotland. Afterwards, I will be presenting a cheque for over £11,000 to the Special Baby Care Unit at the BGH. This funding was raised through the generous sponsorship Councillor David Parker and I received for the charity walk we completed in the Borders last summer. The money will go towards the purchase of essential new equipment to help babies that are born prematurely. Later, I will travel to London for the start of the Parliamentary week.

'On Tuesday morning I will meet with the Scottish Secretary, Jim Murphy MP, to discuss unemployment in the Borders. Later, I will be speaking at an event hosted by Save the Children in my capacity as Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State for International Development.

'On Wednesday morning, I have a series of regular meetings with my team before International Development Questions and Prime Ministers Questions in the chamber. Afterwards, I will present a petition addressed to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street, calling on the Government to secure the future of the Post Office network in the Borders. Later, I will meet with representatives of BOND, an organisation which represents a number of International Development charities.

'On Friday, I will travel to Perth for the annual Scottish Liberal Democrat Spring Conference. Over the weekend I will be participating in a number of fringe events and will chair a discussion on disability issues with representatives of RNID and RNIB.'
